Did you know complete wellness doesn’t mean you are symptom free?
Have you ever walked out of an appointment with a healthcare practitioner feeling kind of lost in regards to “What’s Next?” I know I have. As a receiver and also provider for healthcare I’ve realized that not being clear about what the treatment plan is means
1) Less motivation for personal ownership of healing
2) Less client retention and potentially less client trust in the provider
3) A general feeling of “I’ll just see you when the next crisis hits and I need you”.
This mindset is typical in our culture, but it doesn’t have to be!
What makes me different than other acupuncturists is that I am thorough about discussing a clear treatment plan of where to go next that works with you and for you!
Disease (Dis-ease) is a process. There’s ups and downs. It’s NOT your identity and it can change!
The amazing thing about acupuncture is that it works to heal not only your symptoms but get to the root of what was causing it in the first place so it doesn’t come back.
With each new patient I see I create a individualized treatment plan with you in mind as you are 1/2 of the team on your healing journey!
Because everyone’s healing process is different I can’t guarantee you will be 100% in a certain amount of time, BUT I do confidently create a plan guided towards the direction of you feeling not only recovered but also feeling connected to yourself and the world physically, emotionally and spiritually.
And when people stick with their treatment plan with the right acupuncturist for them they have the opportunity to see long lasting positive changes too!
Acupuncture has an accumulative effect with each treatment sooooo…
When I create a treatment plan I focus on three phases of healing:
RECOVERY PHASE
You either have an acute condition or a chronic condition that hasn’t been managed very well (you may find yourself in survival mode or just thinking this is the best it’s gonna get). Even if you become symptom free after a few sessions it doesn’t mean the root issue is resolved and other aspects are balanced. This means I recommend you come in for treatment 1x/week for 6-8 weeks. You may need to come in more often initially depending on how acute the condition is.
REPAIR PHASE
The main concern you came in for is under control and/or resolved. Now it’s time to really get into stabilizing your health and constitution. No longer in survival mode. This means I recommend you come in for treatment 1x every 2-3 weeks. The length of time (1 month or more) depends on how you are progressing.
MAINTENANCE/PREVENTATIVE PHASE
You’re doing great! Now is the time to work towards prevention so when you hit any mental or physical ‘bumps in the road’ you can bounce back even quicker. Able to discover deeper layers of physical and mental healing and awareness. Now you are in thriving mode! This means I recommend you come in for treatment 1x every 4 weeks. This is where you can see long lasting change with prevention. I recommend people stick to this phase for about 3 years.
Remember, every one is different in regards to healing time and your treatment plan will be unique to you. I find the patients who move through these phases of healing more quickly are serious about the commitment to their treatment plan.
Healing doesn’t end when you step out of the treatment room, though. Your treatment plan will include not only what phase you are in and the anticipated number of sessions, but it will also include
- The different additional Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities you may receive for this treatment plan (Tuina, Guasha, Cupping, Acupressure, Ear Seeds, Shiatsu, QiGong/breathing techniques) in addition to acupuncture
- Dietary suggestions (updated regularly)
- Lifestyle suggestions: To promote better sleep, reduce anxiety/depression/stress, improve pain and more
I go over this treatment plan during your initial visit and send you an emailed copy of the treatment plan (with revisions sent over time).
Although a treatment plan for my other services (Zero Balancing, Yoga Therapy and coaching) are a bit different, the same commitment applies.
Now that you know what to expect, schedule your appointment today!
