I was recently thinking of seniors and those who were home bound long before COVID19 came into existence. Memories have come up from my days of working in physiotherapy, especially home health care, where many people were isolated and lonely. I think of them today and my current clients who are home bound. One of the best things I liked about my job in physiotherapy was sneaking in yoga postures and breathing techniques into treatments. Without even having to label it ‘yoga’ I could see the immediate and positive effects it had on people. This was when I started to notice that yoga therapy really worked.
There was no need to add any spiritual woo-woo philosophy because the technology of yoga worked to get people out of their depression, anxiety and disconnection even if it was for only a few minutes. People that were very anti ‘spiritual’ or ‘anti-yoga’ soon began asking me to start their physiotherapy sessions with it. Most of my patients were seniors. I was thrilled when they were open to find new connections in their body and mind. The key was to make their experience short and simple so the information could be digested easily.
I wanted to create some simple videos for people to help make Kundalini Yoga and meditation in general meditation more accessible to people, especially now as people are even more isolate. My intention is for people to feel more calm, relaxed and yet energized.
