Have you had the experience of being on a suspension bridge and one of your friends (or you) jumps up and down? Then all of a sudden you find yourself grasping onto the handrail or spreading your legs wide in an attempt to not fall? Yeah, me too. That pretty much sums up how I’ve been feeling since February and the escalation of the COVID19 pandemic, as I am sure many of you have been experiencing something similar.
We are on a gigantic suspension bridge right now. The old foundation of what we once knew is behind us and who knows what is ahead. This is an exciting time as we are in a full on great Awakening. Remember all that talk about preparing for the Aquarian Age? Well here ya go, we are in it! Our soul chose to be on this planet at this time to birth into the Aquarian age to experience this. Some people may feel that walking on a wobbly bridge is a fun adventure and others may already be leaning over the edge ready to puke. There’s an unlimited amount of experiences we are feeling and I know mine tends to change every day with many complexities. I think I am somewhere in between two extremes….enthusiastic to see what lies ahead but also feeling a bit nauseous with uncertainty at the same time. It reminds me of being a kid at the local fair grounds, getting off one ride with a mixed feeling of excitement while the taste of cotton candy comes up in the wrong direction at the same time. Yet I kept wanting to go on the rides, each one with a different thrill. I especially liked the ‘zipper’ ride.
There’s been a few key things that continue to help me through all these transitions that you may want to consider:
1) Sadhana : I have to admit that there were days that the last thing I wanted to do was my daily practice. At the same time I knew in my whole being the benefits of doing a daily practice. In all honesty, I didn’t know how else to function without a daily practice so I just kept doing it. For the last 33 days or so I’ve been adding to my sadhana the 4U’s Kriya for Pranic Adjustment. For those of you who have been to my classes regularly, you know I like to throw that in from time to time. It’s an amazing kriya to develop nerves of steel and eliminate fear. I have found that it has helped me immensely in being patient and staying steady despite the discomfort (physically or emotionally). That’s why as yogis we have the tool of sadhana, to find our steadiness within so we can translate that into our lives. If you don’t have the time or the concentration to do a kriya then try something a simple breath meditation or posture for 3 minutes. Many of us have more time on our hands than we are comfortable with. There’s a need to rest and set the reset button but we also need to keep up with our core essential self care and routines so it isn’t as much of a jolt getting back into a normal post-COVID19 life…when the time comes.
2) Staying Connected and Ask for Support: This is going to be necessary for us in the next coming weeks as being physically disconnected can possibly lead to the potential of feeling emotionally disconnected. Thank goodness for technology (when used in a balanced way). Remember to reach out to seniors who are isolated. Pray for the healthcare workers and social service people who are working tirelessly to help keep things afloat.
3) Remembering that we are all in this together: As we continue to navigate away from the old foundations of being victims/victimizers and lean forward into the collective awareness of us being One, it can sometimes still feel very personal like we are the only ones struggling. This is especially true if you are unable to work right now, are recovering from illness, or are in ‘damage control’ mode piecing together things in your life that have been affected. I have found it helpful to remember over and over that everyone is being affected by this in some way. We are going to need to find a way to come together with a new framework of living. The mantra Hummee Hum Brahm Hum is very helpful in remembering that we are we, we are One, in this together.
LET’S COME TOGETHER:
I will be continuing the 6 week series online that I started at Lotus Yoga Centre. The series is focused on finding stability during transitional times. I’ll be offering this specific class on Thursday evenings at my usual class time, 6:00pm- 7:00pm until classes resume at Lotus Yoga Centre in person. The classes will be FREE but I do appreciate any donations you can offer if you have the means at this time as I am self employed as a healer/yoga teacher. You can send an e-transfer to birkaurkhalsa@gmail.com either before or after class.
Use this link via Zoom to join in every week. There is no need to download any software.

Online Healing Sessions:
I will be offering online yoga therapy sessions. An online session will look like a combination of suggested acupressure points, lifestyle/diet recommendations, postures, breath and chanting meditations to help support you during this time.
20min online yoga therapy sessions: FREE (although donations are appreciated)
1 hr online yoga therapy sessions: $108 (CAD), flexible for those who have financial hardship
Here’s what one of my clients said about the online healing sessions I offered:
“When I heard Bir Kaur was doing Kundalini Yoga Therapy, I immediately knew the universe had offered me an opportunity to dive deeper into my healing and awakening. I had been struggling with habitual, addictive behaviors and mental blocks that held me back from fully realizing what my heart had been calling me to do. After just one session, I was empowered. The kriyas, meditations, and acupressure points she recommended gave me the strength I needed to overcome my obstacles and choose a new path for my life. Her presence projects through a room, a skype call, and an email to wrap you in love and inspiration. I am not exaggerating when I say her prescription has facilitated a powerful joy in me.”
What’s different between online and in-person sessions? With in-person sessions I am able to do hands on healing which provides a different but also deep opportunity for transformation and balance. During hands on sessions I use energy healing on certain acupressure points and also provide other healing modalities like Zero Balancing and Tuina.
